Harrah's Launches Online Casino for Offshore Players

While lawmakers in the US work on overturning the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA), Harrah's Entertainment launched a new online casino—one that does not accept business from US players.

Their online offering features many of the casino games offered by their land-based casinos, and takes customers from outside the US to play casino games for real cash.

Harrah's wants their online casino up and running in advance of any law changes in the US, and is hoping to be one of the first licensed online casinos in the US, once UIGEA is overturned or rendered redundant.

While lawmakers discuss proposed legislation from Representative Barney Frank that would overturn UIGEA and set up a regulated Internet gambling industry in the US, Harrah’s is positioning itself to get in on the ground floor of a regulated domestic online gaming industry, and they intend to hit the ground running.
