Menendez to Inroduce Senate Bill Similar to Barney Frank's

US Senator Robert Menendez (D-NJ), pictured right, plans to introduce a bill similar to the bill Barney Frank (D-MA) introduced in the House of Representatives. Both houses working on Internet gambling legislation could speed up the process of overturning the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA).

Senator Menendez is looking forward to overturn UIGEA so that the online gaming industry would be regulated. His goal is the same as Barney Frank’s, but a two pronged attack offers the promise of speeding up passage.

We’ll see … it’s a long way from the introduction of a bill until it becomes law. But time is on our side, and not on the side of opponents of this legislation. Support for online gaming and the tax revenue it promises to generate, continues to grow. Although I’m hopeful, I’m not ready to start counting my chickens just yet. They need some time to hatch.
